This workshop is designed to help Virginia’s tutor trainers of community-based literacy programs learn how to train. We will be using our online Tutor Training Workshop as a curriculum. Suggestions for Taking This Course … Please Read

How to participate in this course and complete it:

• Set aside an hour each day for completing workshop assignments.

• Keep up with the suggested schedule. This will keep your work load on any given day to a minimum.

• Print readings, and read them off line at convenient times.

• Watch the videos on your TV-DVD player when you have a few spare minutes.

• Pace yourself, and don’t go overboard at the beginning. Join in the discussion and add your two cents worth, but don’t burn yourself out by giving a 150% at the beginning. Simply work enough on assignments to let others know that you’ve understood the concept. You can go back later to flesh out or rectify your answers.

• Take advantage of the scheduled week off to make up missed assignments, or to move ahead in anticipation of time off.

• Always be respectful of the ideas of others.
